The 14th Conference of the Tanzania Records and Archives Management Professionals Association (TRAMPA) was enlivened by a short drama performance and a musical presentation by renowned Tanzanian musician Mrisho Mpoto, attracting enthusiastic applause from participants on September 23, 2026.
The short drama highlighted the importance of records and archives professionals in various institutions. Its main character, a female records officer, demonstrated professionalism and dedication in carrying out her responsibilities, emphasizing the vital role of the profession in preserving the country’s records, history and institutional memory.
Mrisho Mpoto, who appeared towards the end of the performance, stressed that records and archives professionals must be given greater priority if Tanzania is to achieve its development aspirations under the 2050 national vision.
Mrisho Mpoto emphasized:
“These are not merely custodians of papers; they are custodians of records that are valuable to the nation today, tomorrow and for generations to come. I urge the Government and all stakeholders to recognize and value this profession.”
The 2026 TRAMPA Annual Conference is being held in Dodoma and has brought together more than 1,000 participants and stakeholders from different institutions and sectors.
