EMPLOYERS URGED TO PAY EMPLOYEES THEIR ENTITLEMENTS

DODOMA — The Government has directed heads of all public institutions in the country to ensure that adequate funds are set aside to cover transfer expenses and other entitlements for employees who are transferred or relocated to new duty stations.

 

The measure is expected to help reduce complaints among public servants while improving efficiency and productivity in the public service.

 

The directive was issued by Minister responsible for Public Service, Hon. Ridhwani Kikwete, who represented the Prime Minister, Hon. Mwigulu Nchemba, during the opening of the 14th General Conference of the Tanzania Records and Archives Management Professionals Association (TRAMPA) in Dodoma.

 

In his address, Hon. Kikwete also contributed 10 million Tanzanian shillings towards the construction of the TRAMPA headquarters building in Dodoma.

 

The Minister further emphasized the importance of continuously improving records and archives management systems in line with modern technological developments.

 

Speaking at the conference, TRAMPA Chairperson, Ms. Devota Mrope, thanked the Government for its continued cooperation and support to the association in carrying out its responsibilities.

 

Meanwhile, the Principle Secretary of the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Juma Seleimani Mkomi, said that his office is the institution responsible for overseeing and supporting TRAMPA.

 

While introducing some of the stakeholders attending the conference, Mkomi said:

 

“Most of the records and archives referred to fall under our mandate. The President’s Office – National Records and Archives Management Department is responsible for overseeing this area, and the department is headed by Mr. Frimin Msiangi.”

The 14th TRAMPA conference has brought together participants from various regions of Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, with more than 1,000 participants attending the event.

 

Among the participants is Ms. Latifa Kibadeni, a Records Officer from the Office of the Regional Commissioner for Mbeya, who expressed her appreciation for participating in the conference.

 

“I am pleased to participate in this 14th conference. I have always been a stakeholder in TRAMPA. Since I joined the public service, I have participated in its activities, and this is my sixth conference. I thank the Regional Administrative Secretary of Mbeya for consistently enabling me to participate,” she said.

 

Another participant, Izack Aloyce, a Records Officer from the Mbeya City Council, said the conference was his first TRAMPA meeting since he was employed in 2024.

 

“I thank God for allowing me to witness how things are being done. I will return to work with renewed motivation. Congratulations to TRAMPA and congratulations to all records officers,” he said.

The President’s Office – National Records and Archives Management Department was also well represented at the conference by various directors and senior officials, including Frimin Msiangi, Salumu Kyando, Director of National Institutions, and Athanas Kolokota, Director of Archives.

 

The conference is being held in Dodoma to discuss various issues related to the records and archives profession, professional development, and ways of strengthening records management across institutions in Tanzania.
