National Archives: An Important Reference for the History and Future of the Nation

The Office of the President, Department of Records and Archives of Tanzania, continued with its activities in Dodoma on August 18, 2026, where several internal meetings were held. The main meeting was the Fourth Quarter Audit Committee meeting for the 2025/2026 financial year, held on August 18, 2026.

 

 

The meeting was successfully conducted under six agenda items, including two major agenda items: matters arising from the Third Quarter meeting of the 2025/2026 financial year and the Fourth Quarter audit report for the 2025/2026 financial year. The agenda items were discussed within 2 hours and 9 minutes.

 

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Director of the Department of National Founders and Presidential Libraries, Mr. Salum A. Kyando, spoke to Mwanakawetu, saying:

 

“We also have the responsibility of preserving records of public institutions when they reach the end of their existence, because one day it is possible that such an institution may be decided to be restored. Therefore, our national reference is the Office of the President, Department of Records and Archives of Tanzania; it is no one else but us.”

 

As the meeting concluded around midday, the weather conditions in Dodoma were recorded at a temperature of 26°C, with humidity at 43 percent, a 5 percent chance of rain, and winds blowing at 13 kilometres per hour.
